We are looking for a long term investment...
We are not your average financial services firm and our unique culture is just one aspect that makes us stand out from the crowd. We offer a supportive environment that encourages innovation and creativity whilst maintaining a healthy lifestyle balance. You will be joining one of Europe's leading Investment Management firms where you can expect real responsibility and recognition from day one. We are large enough to offer a wide variety of career opportunities, whist small enough to treat you as an individual and tailor training and development to your specific needs.
The M&G Corporate Actions team is responsible for protecting client assets and ensuring systems are accurately updated as a result of voluntary and mandatory corporate events on bond and equity holdings.
Corporate action messages are received from custodians into our corporate actions management system predominantly via SWIFT, where the data is validated against additional market sources and cleansed, before creating a golden copy in the system. At this point, the event is dispatched to all fund managers who hold the equity or bond. Using the same system, the fund manager instructs a decision on the event, which is routed back to the Corporate Actions team, in order to collate all instructions, along with any supporting documentation for onward instruction to the custodians.
Upon payment of resulting entitlement of securities and/or cash, the Corporate Actions team are responsible for ensuring the internal systems and records are updated accurately, and any third parties are informed.
All members of the team are encouraged to raise process improvements for efficiency and more effective control perspective.
You will be responsible for the following tasks
Reading and understanding corporate action notifications from custodians, including manipulating format of the messages in order to present to fund managers in a clear, timely and accurate basis.
Discussing and agreeing deadlines and positions with custodians, and brokers (when stock is on loan).
Maintaining internal systems and records with instructions and decisions.
Ensuring no Cash and Stock reconciliation breaks, by addressing and resolving in a timely manner.
Addressing discrepancies and escalate and report issues, which impact corporate actions to Corporate Actions Manager, and/or Head of Securities Administration.
Liaising with and providing an exceptional level of service to the Front Offices at all times.
Ensuring all procedures and controls are adhered to and challenge/identify improvements.
What we are looking for
You will be a driven, logical person who likes to understand why a corporate event is taking place and will take pride in ensuring that they have not only received and provided all necessary external information but that the information has been presented accurately and appropriately, in order for the M&G fund management team to make the best investment decision on behalf of their fund.
The Corporate Actions Administrator will often have to work effectively under pressure and to variable deadlines and volumes, whilst treating each client fairly, remaining organised and with a strong desire for accuracy, all of which can be challenging when complex corporate events present themselves. You will be comfortable working on your own and also able to work as a team, to ensure the entire function is supported, including the second checking of each other's work before key stages within the process.
This role is ideally suited to someone who can demonstrate a practical working knowledge or experience of the processing of equities and/or bond corporate actions, from an Asset Management company, Custodian Bank or Investment Bank, such as awareness and understanding of all related SWIFT message types.
You must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and be comfortable articulating corporate events to people at all levels from fund managers, fund manager assistants, management, other teams within Investment Operations and external counterparties, predominantly custodians.
Working within a changing environment to support the business means that the role holder can get the opportunity to broaden their knowledge by participation in fund launch meetings, new market or new instrument due diligences, as well as having ad-hoc tasks delegate to them from the Corporate Actions Manager.
