This role will review the current Cost Analyst processes with a view to automate and improve processes ultimately increasing efficiency by reducing processing time and errors. Tangible benefits would be to complete month end and forecast processes in a shorter time frame to allow Cost Analysts to spend more time on review and analysis. To understand the way data flows from different sources and be able to challenge the status quo. Role to look to automate tasks, leverage existing technologies available to produce reporting (currently use Hyperion and CXO reporting) and where possible standardise items.
Scoping and analysis
Documenting finance processes and those linked to required data sets outside of finance
Focus on headcount processes with multiple data sources, conflicting data and numerous touch points. Working across Finance, HR and Finance Systems teams
Understand data flows to seek to improve this via automation and help Cost Analysts easily identify material errors in data set.
Understanding month end and forecast processes
Identifying process issues
Recommending and implementing improvements
Create a prioritised list of improvement initiatives
Working to obtain data required for finance processes
Reviewing and testing processes and system changes as necessary
Identifying opportunities to streamline systems and processes across wider team
Understanding crunch points and working with FSC team to finalise a “bulk upload” template for workforce updates
Enhance reporting capabilities – work with FSC and Business partners to automate current reports on CXO and produce workforce review, month end & forecast variance reports
Developing the service delivery model
Formalising processes, timetables and responsibilities
Ensuring finance team are briefed and trained
Ensuring training is provided to finance team to ensure high performance team
Knowledge transfer to ensure team have ability to help themselves in future.
To be successful in this role you will have:
An Accountancy qualification (desirable)
A good track record of process improvements and efficiency
Advance Excel skills including VBAs, power query, power pivot, macros
Strong Finance systems experience would be advantageous – Oracle, Hyperion, Essbase, Smartview, CXO
Experience in resource or workforce planning
Proactively work with team to understand their current finance processes and identify opportunities for improvement
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to achieve buy-in from various stakeholders and collaboration of other team members
The ability to consume / manipulate large amounts of information and articulate back to stakeholders in a clear manner
Problem solving, questioning mind-set always thinking about continuous improvement
Organised and able to plan to ensure delivery within agreed timeframes
